The wildfires were most intense this year. 7 of them around the perhiphery of the Flathead vally. One fire was barely 25 miles from our house. That one (Skyland) was the one that trapped us on the wrong side of the park one night at 11pm. Every motel was booked solid. We had to drive 90 miles to a place we knew we could stay for the night. Fires plagued us every where we went. Up to Libby, and down to Plains. No place was clear of the smoke and ash fall. As sad as it seems though, the smoke made for some of the most impressive sunsets I've ever seen.
